What is IBSAT?
The ICFAI Business School Aptitude Test (IBSAT) is the entrance exam for the nine IBS campuses — Hyderabad (the flagship), Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Dehradun, Gurgaon, Jaipur, Kolkata, Mumbai and Pune. IBS Hyderabad is consistently ranked among India's better private B-schools, and IBSAT is the most direct route in.
Two things make it low-stress compared with CAT: there is no negative marking, and candidates with valid CAT, XAT, NMAT or GMAT scores are exempt — they can apply to IBS directly with those scorecards.

Exam pattern
- Mode: computer-based test, 2 hours.
- Areas tested: Verbal Ability, Reading Comprehension, Quantitative Techniques, and Data Adequacy & Interpretation (with analytical reasoning woven in).
- Marking: +1 per correct answer, no negative marking — attempt everything.
- Difficulty is moderate; vocabulary and verbal carry more weight than in CAT, so word-list revision pays off unusually well here.
Eligibility
- Graduation in any discipline with at least 50% marks, with English as the medium of instruction.
- A minimum of 15 years of education (10+2+3 or 10+2+4).
- Final-year students can apply; admission stays provisional until results.
Selection process at IBS
- Score submission: IBSAT 2026 score, or a valid CAT/XAT/NMAT/GMAT score.
- Selection briefings (Jan 2027): informational sessions across cities explaining programmes and campuses.
- Micro-presentation + PI (Feb–Mar 2027): a short extempore presentation followed by a personal interview, conducted centrally (usually at IBS Hyderabad).
- Campus allotment: based on overall performance and preference — IBS Hyderabad seats go first and require the strongest composite performance.
