Status right now: The XAT 2027 application form is expected to go live in the second week of July 2026 — that is, any day now — on xatonline.in, for the exam confirmed on Saturday, 3 January 2027 (single shift). Registration has historically stayed open until around early December. We will update this page with exact dates and the confirmed fee the day XLRI publishes them.

XAT 2027 registration dates

Exam date is announced by XLRI; registration dates follow recent-cycle patterns until the schedule is published (expected this month).

Note the long window — XAT registration typically runs nearly five months. Don't let that lull you: XLRI programme applications and the exam fee are bundled into this one form, and late-window registrants routinely fumble the programme-selection step under deadline pressure.

XAT 2027 fees (expected)

Based on the XAT 2026 fee card; XLRI confirms 2027 fees with the form.
ItemFee (last cycle)
XAT registration~₹2,200
Each XLRI programme applied to (in addition)~₹200 per programme
  • Fees are payable online (cards/net banking/UPI) and are non-refundable.
  • Applying to associate/member institutes (XIMB, IMT, TAPMI, GIM etc.) is separate — most run their own forms where you submit your XAT ID.

Step-by-step: how to fill the XAT form

  1. Register on xatonline.in with name, email and mobile → you receive your XAT ID and password. This XAT ID is what every other B-school will ask for, so store it safely.
  2. Personal and academic details: X, XII, graduation records exactly as per certificates; work experience in completed months (XLRI weighs it in shortlisting for BM).
  3. Select XLRI programmes — Business Management (BM), Human Resource Management (HRM), and others as listed — paying the per-programme addition. If you're unsure between BM and HRM, applying to both is the standard move; the marginal fee is small against the option value.
  4. Choose test cities in preference order from the list (XAT runs in 70+ cities).
  5. Upload photograph and signature per the specified format and size limits.
  6. Pay and save the confirmation page and payment receipt.
  7. After submitting: track associate institutes' own deadlines (typically Nov–Jan) and submit your XAT ID to each one you're targeting.

Where one XAT form can take you

  • XLRI Jamshedpur (via this form): BM — the flagship, among India's top management programmes; HRM — the country's premier HR programme; plus other listed programmes.
  • 150+ participating institutes (separate applications, same XAT score): XIM University Bhubaneswar, IMT Ghaziabad, TAPMI Manipal, GIM Goa, FORE Delhi, Great Lakes, LIBA, XIME and more.
  • Score expectations for context: XLRI BM has recently shortlisted around the 92–96 percentile band overall (profile-dependent, with sectional cutoffs); HRM slightly lower; top associates typically 80–92.

Registration mistakes specific to XAT

  1. Registering for XAT but no XLRI programme — the exam fee alone doesn't put you in any XLRI shortlist. Add the programmes.
  2. Assuming associates are automatic: XIMB, IMT, TAPMI etc. all need their own applications with your XAT ID — each with its own deadline.
  3. December panic-registration: the form is long (programme choices, uploads, essays in some cycles); doing it days before closing invites payment-gateway and upload failures.
  4. Mismatched documents: like CAT, name/percentage mismatches surface at XLRI's document verification stage — copy from certificates, not memory.
If you're also taking CAT: register for both — the forms are independent (see our CAT registration guide). XAT's Decision Making section needs 3–4 dedicated weeks after CAT, and the 3 January date gives you exactly that window.

Frequently asked questions

Is the XAT 2027 application form out?
Not as of 2 July 2026 — XLRI is expected to release the complete schedule and open the form in the second week of July 2026 on xatonline.in. The exam date is already announced: 3 January 2027, single shift.
What is the XAT registration fee?
XLRI hasn't published 2027 fees yet. Last cycle, XAT registration was about ₹2,200, plus roughly ₹200 for each XLRI programme applied to. Expect similar amounts, confirmed when the form opens.
Is there any minimum percentage required to apply for XAT?
No minimum percentage is prescribed for taking XAT — you need a recognised bachelor's degree of at least three years (final-year students eligible). Individual institutes may apply their own academic criteria at shortlisting.
Does one XAT form cover XIMB, IMT and TAPMI too?
No. The XAT form covers the exam and XLRI's own programmes. Associate institutes accept your XAT score but require separate applications on their own portals, where you provide your XAT ID.
Can I apply to both BM and HRM at XLRI?
Yes, and most serious candidates do — each programme adds a small fee to the form. Shortlists are prepared separately, so applying to both roughly doubles your XLRI chances for a marginal cost.
