What is MHT CET?
MHT CET is Maharashtra's state entrance exam, conducted by the State Common Entrance Test Cell, for admission to BTech/BE, BPharm and PharmD courses in 300+ engineering and pharmacy colleges — including COEP Pune, VJTI Mumbai, ICT Mumbai and SPIT Mumbai. The PCM group feeds engineering seats; the PCB group feeds pharmacy.
New from 2026: the exam went biannual — two attempts a year (April and May sessions this cycle), with the better percentile counting. Around 6–7 lakh candidates register, making it one of India's largest state CETs.

CAP counselling: step by step
- Register on the CAP portal and pay the counselling fee. Non-Maharashtra candidates can participate too (typically against JEE Main scores for the All-India seats; domicile rules govern state-quota seats).
- Upload documents — MHT CET scorecard, HSC marksheet, domicile, category/EWS certificates (must be valid), photo ID — for verification.
- Check the merit lists: a provisional list comes first with a grievance window, then the final merit list.
- Fill and lock choices of college + branch for each CAP round. Order matters — list genuinely preferred options first.
- Seat allotment rounds (typically 3–4): accept/confirm your seat by paying fees within the deadline, or float to the next round per the rules.
Exam pattern (for 2027 aspirants)
- PCM: 150 questions, 200 marks (Maths 50 Q × 2 marks; Physics + Chemistry 100 Q × 1 mark), 3 hours.
- PCB: 200 questions, 200 marks (Biology alone is 100 marks), 3 hours.
- No negative marking — attempt every question.
- Syllabus: Maharashtra State Board Class 11 + 12, weighted roughly 20% Class 11 / 80% Class 12. Prepare from MSBSHSE textbooks, not NCERT alone.
- From 2026 the exam is biannual (around March–April and May), with best-of-two counting — plan to take both.
